Setting up Microsoft Outlook Express
You can set up your Microsoft Outlook
Express to be used with any email addresses associated with your domain
name whatever. com. Simply follow the following
steps and you can have your Outlook Express set up in 10 minutes. To start
with, please double click and start your Outlook Express program. Choose
the option Tools | Accounts
as show below.

A new window will pop up.
Choose Add | Mail as
follows.

This will start the Internet Connection
Wizard and you will be prompted for your name. This is also the name other
people will see when they receive emails from you. This is your real name
(or any nickname) but not your email address or username. The example here
shows a user called John Doe. Go to next step.

Fill in your email address.
This is the address you wish to use with your domain name. Remember, you
will need to have this email address properly configured in the Domain
Manager before it is active. The example here shows a user using an email
address john@lostkids.com. Go to next step.

Fill in the incoming and
outgoing mail servers as show below. If you are using MSN as your
connection provider, you will need to change these to some other special
settings.

Now type in your username and password
as follows. Remember, you will need to apply for a username if you don't
have one. Also, usernames has nothing to do with your email addresses. It
is only used to authenticate you when you send or receive email. Make sure
you do NOT check the checkbox next to Log on using Secure
Password Authentication.

Click next and you are done. Now, you
will need to further fine tune your Outlook Express.

SMTP authentication for Outlook Express
When you have successfully completed the
general settings for your Outlook Express, you will need to further fine
tune your Outlook Express before you can start using it because our
outgoing mail servers require SMTP authentication. Start up your Outlook
Express and choose the option Tools |
Accounts. You will then see the following.

Now click once to highlight the name
202.181.166.108 and then choose
Properties and the following pop up box will appear. You may wish
to fill in your Organization so that people will
know from where you come from when they receive your email. Please
remember to check the checkbox next to Include this
account when receiving mail or synchronizing

Now click on the
Servers tab and you will arrive at the following window. If you
have already completed the general settings from the previous help page,
you should see the incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers already
filled in. You will now need to check the Remember
password checkbox and you can then fill in your password. You will
also need to check the checkbox next to My server
requires authentication. Now, click on the
Settings button and move onto next step.

Here, make sure you only selected
Log on using and fill in your POP3 username and
SMTP password. You may also wish to check the Remember
password box for easier management. If you have never changed your
SMTP password, it should be the same as your POP3 username. Please do not
select Use same settings as my incoming mail server
because we discovered that for unknown reasons, SMTP authentication fails
to respond for some versions of Microsoft Internet Explorers. Click OK and
move onto the next step.

Now choose the Advance
tab and the following should look the same as your Outlook Express. If
not, follow the settings below. Please note that there are some Internet
connection providers that will not allow you to use a third party SMTP
outgoing mail server; for example, MSN, AT&T or AOL.com all blocks 3rd
party outgoing mailservers; in this case you will need to follow the
following SMTP workaround. You might also need to use this workaround too
if you are behind a firewall that has blocked all external ports 25, which
is a port specially reserved for contacting mailservers.
In addition, you might also run into
this problem if you have installed the Norton Anti-virus or PC-cillin that
comes with the personal firewall function. In most of these cases, it is
due to some too-tight filtering rules that has completely shielded your
computer from all external SMTP servers.
